The island’s beaches are known for their unique, beauty and turquoise transparent waters made possible by the “praderas” of Posidonia Oceanica on the seabed, which were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
There are magical coves, such as the Cala d’Hort, which is dominated by the rocky island of Es Vedrà, and others of unique beauty, such as the Platges de Comte, less visited corners, such as Es Pou des LLeo and large family beaches, such as the Platja d’en Bossa or Es Figueral. The beaches of Ses Salines and Es Cavallet are located in nature reserves whose dunes are of great ecological importance.
